# UChicago consulting clubs and when they recruit

> Prism Consulting Group and Eckhart Consulting both recruit undergraduates this fall. Prism takes people every fall and spring and says it expects no experience. Eckhart recruits at the start of fall and in mid-winter. Booth's Management Consulting Group is a full-time MBA club.

Prism Consulting Group and Eckhart Consulting both recruit undergraduates this fall. Prism takes new members every fall and spring and says you don't need experience, while Eckhart recruits at the start of fall and again in mid-winter. If you see Booth's Management Consulting Group, that one is for full-time MBA students.

Several consulting groups have similar names, including Booth's MBA club and clubs at other universities. Before you apply, look the club up on Blueprint, the University's directory of student organizations.

## When consulting firms hire

Career Advancement says most consulting firms don't offer internships until third year. McKinsey, Bain, BCG and Oliver Wyman open applications for third-year internships between March and June of your second year. Many other firms open theirs July to September and interview August to October.

Career Advancement says the season starts with the UChicago Consulting Symposium on March 26, 2027, and it calls the symposium's group case simulations a critical step in the application process. In Winter Quarter, second-years can apply to the Consulting Immersion Initiative, a five-week series led by McKinsey. McKinsey picks the students. ## What consulting clubs are for

The firms recruit on their own calendar, whatever club you are in. What a club gives you is case practice with people who have already been through the interviews.

## Consulting for startups instead

If you want to advise startups, [Midway Ventures](https://www.midwayvc.com/) does pro bono consulting for startups and venture firms and teaches venture fundamentals. On the investing side there is [LTF Ventures](https://ltf.vc/), a student-run fund that gives student startups non-equity grants. I'm a general partner at LTF, so I'm not neutral about it. ## Cafes for case prep
